Valentine's Day was a blessing!

Valentine's Day was truly a blessing!  The children knew how much I wanted everything to be just right & really pitched in to help get the house straightened up before my husband got home.  They were even so kind as to take care of the little ones as I went out shopping to find a Valentine card for my dear husband.  I found the perfect one!  As I was shopping, I thought about how much I wanted the evening to be special, not just for my husband & me, but also for the children.  I wanted to get each of them a little something that let them know that they are loved individually for who they are.  After all, they are each a unique reflection of the deep love that God has blessed my husband & me with.  Since I was a little short on funds, I had to be creative.  I settled for getting each of them their own container of their favorite flavor of Haagen Dazs ice cream.  This may not seem like a big deal to most people, but it is an extra special treat in our home to have your very own pint of HD ice cream!  I got home just in time to make a simple, yet delicious, shrimp scampi dinner, with a recipe I'd never made before!  Everyone loved it.  We lit candles & used our fancy silverware.  It was very special!  Everyone was so happy w/ their ice cream too!  And THAT is what made it extra happy for my husband & me...to see our children's faces light up when given simple gifts that express our love for each of them.   We also shared with them the history of Valentine's Day found here.  A history that everyone should be aware of.
